Guestrooms and verandahs at rear of house

Lilybank Bed and Breakfast, in the leafy Cairns ' suburb of Stratford, and only 10 minutes from the city centre, is just such a home.

The property dates back to 1872, just 7 years after the first settlers began arriving and was established on 1600 acres, becoming the first tropical fruit plantation in North Queensland and also was a popular hotel and Inn or guesthouse

.For many years it was the home of Mayor A.J.Draper, regarded as the "father" of the city of Cairns.  The plantation was long ago redeveloped into the suburbs of Stratford and Freshwater.

Enjoy our garden! The birds and butterflies that visit us here are a delight to the eye.

Happily, Lilybank homestead is still here to welcome visitors to this magnificent part of Australia, the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage rainforests, and provide you with excellent Bed and Breakfast accommodation.

As the region's most popular B&B, we have welcomed more than 10,000 guests over the last 12 years and Lilybank Bed and Breakfast has featured for the last nine of those years as a "Frommers' Favourite" in their Australian travel publication.

These few photos can only give you a slight idea......
Our best morning in North Queensland was the day Pat & I floated around in a hot air balloon - followed by a champagne breakfast!
Ocean Spirit Cruises - This vessel even has a semi- submersible for those that want to see the reef without getting their hair wet.  And there is easy snorkelling right off the cay in the background. (Michaelmas Cay out from Cairns.)
Green Island and its surrounding reef - 17 kilometers out from Cairns.
Skyrail, winner of Australian National Tourism awards year after year and a must do.   Virtually every Lilybank guest has taken this trip combined with the Kuranda Scenic Train and enjoyed every moment of it.
